Jordanian tourism sector generated $3.5bn last year

The Jordanian central bank has said the country's tourism sector generated $3.5bn (around JD2.5bn) in 2012, up 15.3% from $3bn in the previous year, Jordan Times has reported. The rise was attributed to an increase in the number of tourists visiting the kingdom, especially from Arab countries. Income generated by visitors from the Gulf went up by 15.7% and by 47.1% from other Arab countries, the central bank said.
