Jordan's energy bill rose 24% last year

According to figures by Jordan's Department of Statistics (DoS), the kingdom's energy bill during the January-November period of 2012 jumped 24.1% to JD4.41bn over the JD3.55bn registered during the same period in 2011, Jordan Times has reported. Crude oil imports accounted for some 42% of the total imported energy products at a cost of JD1.85bn, the data showed. Other costs included that of diesel which amounted to JD1.2m, fuel oil at JD432m, grease at JD257m, natural gas at JD68m and electric energy at JD84m, while the sum of JD509m was paid to meet the cost of two other energy products, the figures indicated.
