KFH hosts meeting for international lawyers pro bono projects

Kuwait Finance House (Bahrain) hosted a meeting for the international lawyers pro bono forum (under establishment) at which the forum discussed their first pro bono projects.

Mr Paul Mercer, Executive Manager at Kuwait Finance House (Bahrain), commented, "He continued to receive positive feedback about the establishment of the forum and that he was happy that the forum was looking at its first projects."

Mr Mercer was also further encouraged by the growing size of the forum which continues to welcome more lawyers and law firms.

Ms Cate Barbour of Trowers & Hamlins proposed an initiative of arranging for the collection of useful items for less fortunate members of the community and proposed to circulate this initiative to the forum. Ms Julie Alexander, partner at Baker & McKenzie, and Angela Croker, senior associate at Norton Rose seconded this initiative and hoped that arrangements could be put in place quickly.

Mr Clive Hopewell and Ms Reem Al Mahroos suggested an initiative to provide educational seminars and will shortly submit a proposal to the forum in this regard.

Mr Michael Yagdar, Legal Director at DLA Piper, suggested a number of initiatives and confirmed the commitment of his firm and his colleagues to working on pro bono initiatives in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Mr Mercer said, "He was delighted with the support of his lawyer colleagues and that he was looking forward to the forum undertaking its first pro bono projects soon."
