- PRESS RELEASE
Khalifa University faculty recently hosted a training session in order to prepare for the upcoming EmiratesSkills National Competition taking place April 23rd to the 25th at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC).
Khalifa University has been tasked with organizing the new Web Security and Programming Competitions by EmiratesSkills.
EmiratesSkills is a national, not-for-profit organization that actively promotes careers in skilled trades and technologies, by organizing competitions, events, training programmes and technical career activities.
The new Web Security Competition has been designed as a multilevel game that will pit teams from different institutions, from around the UAE, against each other. The main objective of the competition is for students to detect security flaws in different problems and to exploit them.
The goal of the contest is to attract companies and universities attention to a new generation of skilled security students. The training informed the teams' coaches about the skills required for the competition, explained to them the types of attacks that could be used in the competition, discussed the level of experience that the teams will need, and, since this is the first time the competition is offered, the training also explained the structure of the competition and the form in which the tasks will be presented.
The Programming Competition, which is also designed as a multilevel game, will challenge the competitors through a set of problems that must be solved using C, C++, or JAVA. The training was aimed at getting the coaches familiar with the development environment and familiarizing them with the PC2 (PC square) software which will be used for judging.
