Khawam concludes her mission with Orange Jordan

Mrs. Khawam will still be within the France Telecom Group where she will be based in Paris, in charge of developing new business streams for national and international telecom providers. Her successor Mr. Jean-Francois Thomas will assume his responsibilities as Orange Jordan's incoming CEO as of October 1st 2012.

Making her mark on the regional telecommunications industry, Khawam's long track record of achievements include overseeing the introduction of the first 3G network in the Kingdom, the expansion of Orange Labs, which provide innovative services to 27 countries via Jordan, and the signing of two terrestrial fibre optics cables agreements; JADI and RCN, which upon completion will provide an alternative route to data and voice traffic in the region and with Europe and Asia.

Her unique leadership skills, vast expertise, and capabilities were crucial in almost doubling Orange Jordan subscriber-base and enabling it to reach almost 4 million to date. In addition to her consistent efforts to position the brand of Orange in Jordan to be amongst the top most recognized and respected, Mrs. Khawam also oversaw the introduction of the EMTIYAZ program, the only customer service program of its kind in Jordan. The program today is amongst the most recognized and distinguished by France Telecom's website.

Mrs. Khawam was also a pioneer in improving employees' conditions, a goal achieved by creating a very positive work environment and consequently satisfying one of the four pillars of Orange Conquest 2015.

In line with His majesty King Abdullah II vision for spreading the internet culture in the Kingdom, Khawam mastered a 3 year CSR strategy consisting of two main projects, the first of which was the Broadband Fund project which was a milestone project aimed at increasing internet awareness and consequently increasing its penetration throughout the Kingdom to reach 56% of the population. The second was the Orange Villages project which mainly involved spreading sustainable development in remote villages.

Another one of her distinguished achievements was giving the opportunity for almost 1000 Orange Jordan employees to attend international training programs outside Jordan.

Her notable contributions to the telecommunications field even granted her 12th place on the Forbes' magazine May issue list of the Top 100 most powerful Arab Business Women.

Commenting on the conclusion of her mission in Jordan, Mrs. Khawam stated that she was grateful for the memorable experience that Orange Jordan had granted her, affirming that she will take the valuable lessons learned from the Jordanian market, Orange Jordan, and the Jordanian society at large with her as she moves forward in her career.

The decision to privatize Jordan Telecom Group, and under the name of Orange Jordan today, was considered by many experts as a success story in Jordan's privatization program not only for the ICT sector but also for the Jordanian economy at large. The sector registered a strong second position in contribution to the GDP of the country reaching 14.2% in 2010.

The partnering with France Telecom has reaped positive results, placing Jordan on the regional telecommunications map since 2009 as one of the three most efficient in terms of mobile services and internet to date.
