Saudi Arabia to use Taif Airport for pilgrims

  • Saudi Arabia: Wednesday, September 26 - 2012 at 03:03

Saudi Arabia's Shoura Council has approved the use of Taif Airport for the arrival and departure of Haj and Umrah pilgrims, Saudi Gazette has reported. The move aims to help reduce the pressure on King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah, the council said. Taif Airport was upgraded in 2009 into a regional airport when the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) allowed international airlines to operate from the airport, in view of the huge load on three main airports.
