Kurdistan breaks ground on new airport

Iraq's Kurdistan Region has launched construction works on a new international airport in the city of Duhok, Arabian Aerospace has reported. The airport was originally announced in 2010 and was planned to be operational in May 2012. Duhok International Airport will be the third airport in the Kurdistan region and after its completion in 2015, travellers will have direct international access to each of the region's three provinces. The semi-autonomous region has already two airports in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah which provide direct flights to more than 25 destinations in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
