Kuwait awards EPC contract for $9bn Vietnam refinery

Kuwait Petroleum Corp (KPC) has announced its Kuwait Petroleum International (KPI) subsidiary and its joint venture partners has awarded an international consortium the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the $9bn refinery and petrochemical complex in northern Vietnam, Kuna has reported. Nghi Son Petrochemical Refinery Complex, to be built 180km south of the Vietnamese capital Hanoi, will go on stream in 2017 with a daily refining capacity of 200,000 barrels. The capacity would be doubled in the second phase if justified by strong demand, said KPC.
