Landmark Group joins forces with Sharjah City Centre and Ajman City Centre to offer free blood glucose testing

As part of its on-going diabetes awareness initiative, Beat Diabetes, Landmark Group, the region's leading retail and hospitality conglomerate, will offer free blood glucose testing at Sharjah City Centre and Ajman City Centre, in partnership with Majid Al Futtaim Properties, a leading developer of ęshopping malls, hotels and communities in the MENA region.
Residents can avail the test at specially set-up kiosks from 27 - 28 June in Sharjah City Centre and 5 - 7 July in Ajman City Centre between 1:00pm and 10:00pm.
Beat Diabetes, which was launched in 2009 in the UAE, to educate the community on the causes, effects and dangers of the condition. Beat Diabetes is now spread across Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain in addition to India.
Random blood glucose testing is a minimally invasive procedure, and only indicates sugar levels in the body. It is a preliminary tool that allows trained medical professionals to detect the possibility of an individual suffering from the condition. Such patients will be advised to consult their doctors and undergo an in-depth diagnosis.
Diabetes is growing to be one of the most common ailments, currently affecting over 346 million people worldwide. According to the International Diabetes Federation, an estimated 19.22 per cent of the UAE's adult population alone suffers from diabetes.
