- PRESS RELEASE
Visitors to Qatar's prestigious Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition were offered captivating insights into the world of precision watchmaking by the internationally acclaimed German watchmaker A. Lange and Söhne. The fair offered an ideal platform for the esteemed horology pioneer to highlight its constant mechanical innovation, coveted engineering excellence and its artisanal intricacies.
To illustrate its unmatched craftsmanship and watchmaking ingenuity, A. Lange & Söhne displayed several of its exceptional masterpieces including the recently launched Datograph Up/Down, a new reference in the realm of fine chronographs.
For more than a decade, A. Lange & Söhne's Datograph was considered by many to be the quintessential chronograph. Now, with its newest model, Lange's engineers have proven that excellence can always be taken one step further.
With a power reserve extended to 60 hours, a power-reserve indicator, and a proprietary oscillation system, the new Datograph Up/Down shines in a platinum case enlarged to a diameter of 41 millimetres.
Amongst other refinements, the latest Datograph Up/Down features the comfortable but technically complex flyback function found only in very few chronographs. Originating from the early days of aviation, this mechanism makes it possible to perform instantly consecutive time measurements by combining three steps - stop, reset, restart - into one: one single push of a button will stop and reset the Datograph Up/Down in the middle of an ongoing time measurement. When the button is released, a new time measurement is initiated immediately.
The sapphire-crystal caseback reveals one of the technically most immaculate and also most beautiful chronograph movements ever made. It allows the owner to observe the most interesting of the many mechanical processes and artisanal subtleties.
Highlights include the precisely jumping minute counter that guarantees exact time measurement, the column wheel that controls the chronograph functions, and the whiplash spring-secured precision beat adjustment system on the hand-engraved balance cock.
Also on display to watch enthusiasts were the Grand Lange 1 and Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar, members of the iconic Lange 1 family. Rooted in engineering tradition and technical excellence, A. Lange & Söhne stands for unmatched craftsmanship, tradition and ingenuity that defines benchmarks. The manufactory's tireless and innovative spirit, timeless understatement and classical elegance set it apart, and are a true driving force in its constant quest for perfection and crafting the most exclusive watches in the world.
