Lebanon's energy minister Gebrane Bassil has announced that preliminary surveys of the country's offshore fields show reserves of 30trn cubic feet of natural gas and 660m barrels of oil and that production could begin within four years, AFP has reported. Bassil said scanning was now complete on 70% of the country's territorial waters, an area of some 15,000 square km. "In just 10% of that area... we have 30trn cubic feet (850m cubic meters) of gas and 660m barrels of oil," he said.
