Lebanon pre-qualifies 46 firms to bid for offshore gas licences

Lebanese caretaker energy minister Gebran Bassil has announced 46 international and local oil firms have been approved to bid for offshore exploration licences in the country, The Daily Star has reported. Chevron, ExxonMobil and Total are among the 12 international companies who won the pre-qualification round after they applied as right-holder operators, while 34 firms won the pre-qualification as right-holder non-operators, Bassil said. Contracts with the companies should be signed in February 2014, he added.
