Lebanon to press ahead with oil and gas prequalifying round

Lebanon's caretaker energy and water minister Gebran Bassil has said the country is proceeding with the prequalifying bid for offshore oil and gas exploration as scheduled, despite the resignation of the cabinet, The Daily Star has reported., Bassil said last week that 30 different companies from 20 countries have paid nearly $110m to collect seismic data acquired through geological surveys off the country's coast, netting the Lebanese government $34m in revenues. "The oil and gas discoveries will not stop, and the deadlines related to it will be respected," Bassil said.
