Lebanon receives first Turkish electricity barge

Fatmagul Sultan, the first of two electricity barges aimed at boosting Lebanon's ailing power production, has entered the country's territorial waters Saturday, The Daily Star has reported. In July 2012, Lebanon signed a $360m three-year deal to lease electricity-generating barges from the Turkish firm. The two barges combined could generate 270 megawatts of electricity. The two vessel are expected to supply the country with 24 hours of electricity every day in 2015.
