Lebanon says US sanctions against exchangers not alarming

  • Lebanon: Sunday, April 28 - 2013 at 03:36

Lebanese caretaker finance minister Mohammad Safadi has said the government is not alarmed by the US Treasury Department's sanctions this week against two Lebanese exchange houses accused of money-laundering, The Daily Star has reported. Rmeiti Exchange and Halawi Exchange have both denied the allegations, saying they were considering legal action to clear their names. "We are confident that the central bank has been taking every necessary measure to make sure that what they're accused of is most probably not true," Safadi said.
