LG's fast-growing lighting business expands presence in high-demand market

LG Electronics (LG) announced the launch and selling of its LED-lighting solutions in the Levant region, these solutions are commended for their energy efficiency and environmental benefits.

Compared to conventional fluorescent bulbs, LG's LED products on average require 70 to 90% less energy and last longer than conventional lighting products. LG's LED lights are guaranteed to operate for up to 40,000 to 50,000 hours, offering more benefits to the environment and the economy on the long run.

Aside from energy saving, LED lighting also improves the environment of the building and the health of its occupants by reducing CO2 emissions. By installing LG's LED lighting, the Control and Management Center would reduce the amount of radiated heat by 40% from traditional Lighting Bulbs, which in turn reduces energy consumption of the Air conditioning systems. Furthermore, LG's eco- friendly light sources don't contain any hazardous materials like mercury and they don't emit UV or IR

"The demand for LED lighting is growing quickly in the Middle East region," said UKhwan Kim, Director of the Lighting Business at LG Air Conditioning and Energy Solution Company. "LG has invested heavily in LED technologies in order to be able offer the most advanced lighting solutions which combine excellent energy savings with unsurpassed performance."

Based on these qualities, LG announced that it has been selected the exclusive lighting solutions provider for an LED-only structure in the United Arab Emirates. The Control and Management Center, located in Dubai, is owned by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), whose job it is to manage the region's valuable energy resources.

Ultimately, the authority commended LG's LED lights for its energy efficiency and environmental benefits after putting LG's LED solutions through a series of tests pertaining to their energy saving and environmental qualities along with their compliance with international environmental standards. Installation began at the end of September.
