Loans to Lebanese SMEs fell 16.4% last year

Loan guarantees to Lebanese small and medium sized enterprises by loan guarantee company Kafalat have dropped 16.4% last year to $138m, compared with $165m a year earlier, The Daily Star has reported. The number of loan guarantees decreased to 1,025 in 2012 from 1,272 in 2011, while the average loan size increased to from $129,720 to $134,553, said Kafalat.
