Local and international experts in road safety gathered at ITS and Road Safety Forum Qatar

Global leaders in the ITS and Road Safety industry came together in Qatar this week to uncover the latest developments in Qatar's ITS 'Intelligent Transport Systems' Masterplan and Road Safety Strategy and to review recent progress.
Yousef Abdulrahman Al Emadi, Manager, Roads Operations & Maintenance, Asset Affairs, Public Works Authority 'Ashghal' opened proceedings on Day Two with a keynote address discussing the road safety challenges for Qatar and presenting accident figures of the State. He commented, "The road safety strategy for Qatar will be launched soon."
Brigadier Engineer Mohd.A.Al-Malki, Expert in Office for the Minister of State of Interior Affairs and the General Secretary for the National Committee for Traffic Safety then took the stage to provide an insight on the role of the National Traffic Safety Committee in keeping Qatar safe.
With a key focus on accident prevention, behavior modification and intelligent transport systems. Yousef Abdulrahman Al Emadi and Mohd.A.Al-Malki set the scene for the second day of strategic technical discussions being held at this industry-led event.
Discussion led to how road safety can be successfully implemented and Michael de Roos, Road Safety Specialist from Qatar Public Works Authority, 'Ashghal' mentioned in his presentation about applying the safe systems in Qatar that 'not one road safety solution fits every scenario. Behavioral, informative and engineering solutions must work together to solve the challenges faced in the region'.
"We would like thank Ashghal, Ministry of Interior and the National Traffic Safety Committee for their invaluable support and insight in making this inaugural event possible and so successful. Several exhibitors have already confirmed their participation for the event in 2013 and we look forward to building this event significantly over the next 12 months," Commented Graham Wood, Director of IQPC, Qatar.
