London's Saudi Embassy sets up panel for students facing deportation

  • Saudi Arabia: Tuesday, September 04 - 2012 at 11:57

Faisal Abalkhail, cultural attaché at the Saudi Embassy in London has said a panel has been set up to aid and advise some 200 Saudi students who are facing possible deportation halfway through their course after the London Metropolitan University (LMU) was stripped of its right to sponsor non-EU students, Arab News has reported. The UK Border Agency said its decision to withdraw LMU's licence to accept non-EU students was made due to the university's "systemic failure" to account for the immigration status of its international students. "The working group will help Saudi students to find seats at other universities across the UK," the Saudi higher education ministry said.
