Majid Al Futtaim participates at Careers UAE 2013

Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East and North Africa, had another successful year at Careers UAE 2013, which ran between 30 April and 2 May 2013 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Senior representatives from Majid Al Futtaim have received doubled the number of resumes from Emirati job seekers and have conducted onsite interviews with potential candidates.

Majid Al Futtaim's steady increase in local employees, which now stands at 15% of the total workforce, has been supported by the company's strategy to offer qualified UAE nationals a career development path that enables them to become regional leaders in the retail and leisure industry.

This year marked Majid Al Futtaim's 11th consecutive year participating in Careers UAE. Majid Al Futtaim's recruitment and various development programmes are centred on quality. The company is always searching for ambitious national talent seeking a long-term, successful career.

Mohammed Malek, Vice President of Human Resources, Majid Al Futtaim Holding commented on the company's efforts to empower local talent: "Majid Al Futtaim is now, more than ever, committed to hiring qualified Emiratis and supporting their development. Careers UAE is a gateway to the nation's ever-growing pool of talent, and we believe they will be instrumental in our mission to shape the face of retail in the region. Following an extensive filtering processes and interviews conducted by our senior representatives at the exhibition, resumes will now be reviewed. We will then proactively establish contact with candidates for potential opportunities and training programmes."

All of Majid Al Futtaim's businesses have various Emiratisation schemes embedded in their recruitment and training programmes. These include Management Trainee programmes and other development initiatives to ensure that the employees are adequately prepared to advance and grow within the organisation.

Not only does the company has very strong retention rates amongst Emirati employees, a significant number of those employees now hold top management posts, which is testament to the rewarding growth and development path offered at the company and backed by its initiatives.

Some of the initiatives undertaken by the company's subsidiaries include the "Exchange Programme", which enables Emirati employees to swap jobs with their peers in leading international partner companies; the 'Management Trainee Programme' which is uniquely customised for new Emirati joiners to become fully ‎engaged with its businesses and operations, develop ‎specific skills and cultivate leadership ‎competencies; and the 'Leadership Development Programme' that caters to the development of Emirati managers working at Majid Al Futtaim Properties, and aims to prepare them to take on more senior positions. Majid Al Futtaim Properties also recently launched its first Job Shadow Programme in partnership with Injaz, and as part of its CSR strategy.
