Majid Bin Mohamed Youth Media Award appoints student Ambassadors

Furthermore, a preliminary meeting took place between the student Ambassadors and the Organizing Committee - held at The Private Office of His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum - where the students learned about their responsibilities as ambassadors, along with their role in communicating The Award's objectives among students on university and college campuses.

During the meeting, the Ambassadors also discussed the best ways in which to deliver the objectives and messages of The Award, in addition to its significance among the interests of students.

A total of sixteen student Ambassadors were selected so far comprising: Mariam Al Mansoori, Fatima Abdelrahman from Zayed University in Dubai; Butti Al Suwaidi and Ghaith Al Rumaithi from Zayed University in Abu Dhabi; and from Higher Colleges of Technology in Abu Dhabi, Arwa Tahir, Afraa Al Hamli, Hamda Al Kubaisi, Fatima Al Braiki and Mohamed Al Hira. From Higher Colleges of Technology in Dubai, Khawla Ahmed, Hamda Balmur Al Suboosi, Marwan Al Mazmi and Omar Al Zaabi; while from the Sharjah branch, Aisha Al Ali, Eissa Mohamed, and Fatima Al Hammadi were chosen, including representatives from each of the American University of Dubai and United Arab Emirates University. The move aims to encourage participation, in turn increasing the spirit of initiative among youth and encouraging community interaction between university students.

The Organizing Committee has based its selection on a number of set criteria to ensure best representation of The Award. Some of these criteria require that the student pursue their higher education or is currently enrolled in higher education courses with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 in the UAE.

In addition to this, the student must portray the right knowledge to represent The Award to other students on campus, while maintaining a relationship with The Award's Organizing Committee and the student body. Ambassadors have been nominated from their respective universities and colleges and have been personally interviewed by the Organizing Committee before being accepted.

Fatima Al Sayegh, Senior Projects Executive at The Private Office of His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, commented, "This year we've introduced a host of new and interesting categories, which is why we wanted to reach out to a larger number of students and provide them with all the information necessary about The Award."
