- PRESS RELEASE
For the third year in a row, Makro participated as an exhibitor and sponsor of the HACE Hotel Expo - the International Hotel Supplies Exhibition at the Cairo International Conference Center from October 01 - 04.
During the exhibition, Makro showcased its exclusive range of professional products at its booth, with a range of both food and non-food products, specifically tailored to support the growth and business development of Egypt's hotels, restaurants, and caterers (HoReCa). Additionally, Makro hosted a Chef's demo, highlighting the innovative solutions that they provide to the HoReCa community.
HE Hesham Zaazoa, Egyptian Minister of Tourism, inaugurated the exhibition, and stated that "Tourism is one of the most crucial sources of foreign currency in Egypt, having a profound impact on other economic activities on the domestic level. The number of foreign tourists coming to Egypt has increased recently, while greater attention is still being paid to internal tourism as well. I am proud of HACE and similar exhibitions, which provide a wide range of supplies to the hospitality sector. I am equally proud of Makro and its professionalism and dedication in delivering the highest quality of products to professional customers, with most products being sourced locally from Egypt, stressing on the positive changes being witnessed currently in our New Egypt."
Talking about their participation in the exhibition Francois Oliver, Managing Director of Makro Egypt said, "We consider HACE to be an extremely important event for us in the Egyptian market. We pride ourselves on the high quality of food we offer professional clients and HACE is the perfect opportunity for us to showcase just how good our produce really is."
Demonstrating the high quality of fresh food that Makro has brought to the Egyptian market, Makro got a well known Egyptian chef to cook up treats for their clients and attendees of the exhibition to show just how good their food really is.
Whilst Makro has become known for the high quality of its fresh produce, the exhibition was also a key opportunity for the company to emphasize the ways they have translated this same expertise into their fish and meat sections as well, in addition to their fresh produce. For the first time in the Egyptian market, Makro has introduced the concept of vacuum meat which increases both hygiene and shelf life, whilst continuing to develop the concept of traceability, which has become a cornerstone of their meat department. With seafood being a main area of food for the HoReCa sector, Makro has worked extensively to ensure over 70 different types of fish are offered to these clients, including professional favorites such as fresh salmon and live crab. Additionally, a professional coffee station with a barrister on hand to serve coffee was present, showcasing their professional coffee bean selection Rioba, an exclusive Makro brand with competitive prices that offer up to 30% lower prices, than other brands on the market.
In addition, to their booth and tasting areas, Makro sponsored the "Makro Mystery Basket Competition": which was hosted in partnership with the Egyptian Chef's Association, whom Makro have an ongoing partnership with. The competition brought together chefs from 5-star hotels and top-end restaurants as well as trainees from the ECA culinary, to prepare premium dishes using select Makro food items. During the final minutes of the competition, the chefs were provided with a mystery ingredient and asked to create a creative dish with it.
Makro's dedication to the professional HORECA sector goes beyond just providing them with fresh food and produce, with the company working diligently to become the driving force behind change and increased standards of quality in the industry. Makro's ongoing partnership with the ECA is a key part of this initiative, with Makro supporting the chef community in learning about the best ways to cook and preserve food to ensure quality in the industry is constantly improving.
