Masdar to complete 'Shams 1' by year end

Abu Dhabi's multifaceted renewable energy company, Masdar has announced Shams 1 is to be completed by the end of this year and is expected to be officially inaugurated in the first quarter of 2013, Gulf News has reported. "The exact date will depend on the various stakeholders' agendas," Masdar told the daily. Work on the project started in the third quarter of 2010 at an approximate cost of Dhs2bn with the stated purpose of generating enough energy to power 20,000 homes.
