MEALF 2013 forum program focuses on new and innovative technologies in oil recovery methods

From February 6 to 7, about 50 technical specialists from some of the region's biggest oil companies will present their papers to an extensive number of delegates during the 7th Middle East Artificial Lift Forum (MEALF), which will be held at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

All the papers and cases to be presented center on new and best practice applications, systems, and the latest technologies in oil and gas recovery.

Twenty papers will be presented by key speakers representing some of the world's leading energy corporations that include Kuwait Oil Company, Petroleum Development Oman, Schlumberger, Zenith Oilfield Technology, Occidental of Oman and Senergy International. Other speakers represent Weatherford International, PCM, GNPOC and Novomet Group of Companies.

Addressing the industry's current and future needs on a multitude of platforms, key topics such as "Integrated Near-Online Well Management", "Slugging Effect on Artificial Lift Systems in Heavy Oil Horizontal Wells", "Gas Lift Surface Model Sensitivities - Economical Subsurface Optimization Approach", "Improving Production System Reliability through Converting Artificial Lift from Gas Lift to Electrical Submersible Pump", "New ESP Gauge Technology that Operates with Cable Ground Faults", and "How Real-Time Surveillance Improves the ESP Run-Life, Uptime and Reduces Production Deferment", will be presented by the speakers.

The Forum sessions will be opened with an introduction and welcome message by MEALF Chairman Saeed Al Shaheen and a keynote address by Dr. Ibrahim Al Rashdan, MD of the Kuwait Ministry of Health and one of the most prominent figures within the region's health sector.

Apart from the main sessions, MEALF will conduct a specialized pre-forum training workshop on February 5 that will highlight practical exercises and best practice/ new-tech cases on Electrical Submersible Pumps, Sucker Rod Technologies, and Artificial Lift Selection. The sessions will be chaired by Ahmed Elbehery of General Electric, Dougles LaBomberd of Weatherford International, and Suet Bagci of Baker Hughes.

MEALF will also feature an exhibition of oil-related equipment, technology and services alongside the workshop and main Forum.

Commenting on the industry response to the 7th MEALF edition, Al Shaheen says "Delegate participation has witnessed a lot of activity and demand to date and we are glad that our serious efforts to expand delegate reach beyond the region to nations such as Yemen and North African countries like Egypt, Sudan and Libya, have been successful."

Organized by a highly experienced senior Technical Committee from the global energy sector, MEALF is a specialized biennial Forum which focuses on the increasing use of artificial lift technologies in oil production across the Middle East region. MEALF 2013, the only one of its kind in the Middle East region, will be managed and organized by pioneer and leading exhibitions and conferences organizer Omanexpo for the fifth time.
