Runna, second IKCO brand sedan, took the attention of people in the Middle East and North Africa. A market research by IKCO export and international affairs indicates that the quality, safety and reasonable price of Runna has drawn the attention of people in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria and Libya.
IKCO has started initial measures to export this sedan to the Middle East countries.
Based on the export oriented approach of IKCO management, the company aims to develop its presence in global target markets.
According to Najmeddin, IKCO CEO, the company has exported cars to 30 countries, mainly to Central Asia, the Middle East, Europe, South America, and Africa.
It has recently received orders for its newly self-developed car, Runna, from different countries.
The CEO stated that the company supplies spare parts and provides after-sales service to its customers through 139 dealers in 27 countries.
Iraq is one IKCO's main target markets in the Middle East. IKCO is currently running a production plant in this country. Production capacity of IKCO plant in Iraq is 30 thousand cars a year.
IKCO self-reliance in production of TU5 fuel-efficient engine is 90% that would run up to 100 soon.
Mir Javad Soleimani, IKCO Vice-president in quality and product development referred to the process of TU5 localization in the past three years and said that the company is cooperating with SAPCO (Supplying Automotive Part Co.) to reach 100% of self-sufficiency in near future.
Soleimani said that production of 352 thousand sets of TU5 engines a year and a relevant cost reduction management are the elements that make full self-sufficiency in engine production necessary.
The vice president reiterated that forty years of experience in engine production, appropriate planning and using Iranian experts' knowledge have resulted in full self-sufficiency in OHV, OHVG, and XU7 engines as well as design and development of EF7, IKCO's first self-developed engine.
Second IKCO-brand car, Runna, will enjoy EF7 and TU5 engines under the hood this year. IKCO also aims to achieve self-reliance in production of TU3 engines in near future. Design and development of required machining lines for machining TU3 cylinder heads and blocks is taking place in IKCO Powertrain company. The line will be put into operation by the yearend.
