MEPS holds training workshop for its and several Jordanian banks' employees

Middle East Payment Services (MEPS) - the region's leading payment services company licensed by MasterCard - has organized a training session, conducted by MasterCard , on 8th and 9th February, 2013, at the Grand Hyatt Amman.

MasterCard's experts, Mr. Joseph Khanashat, Vice President of Technology Management/Middle East and North Africa, and Mr. Eyad Musharbash, AVP of Customer Delivery, Levant, led the workshop that was attended by select MEPS staff as well as a group of employees from Jordan Ahli Bank, Jordan Islamic Bank, Jordan Kuwait Bank and the Housing Bank for Trade and Finance.

During the workshop, the experts gave the trainees a quick run-through of MasterCard's operations and the mechanism behind the increasingly popular MasterCard products.

Khanashat and Musharbash covered key topics that included MasterCard's authorization, billing process, QMR Direct and products. Other topics that were touched on include MasterCard's single message system and its clearing and settlement processes.

"We at MEPS fully recognize the importance of such sessions in transferring knowledge and expertise to the Jordanian market," said Ms. Izdehar Safarini, MEPS's Deputy CEO for Technical and Operations.

"By organizing similar training opportunities, we aim to help banks provide high standard services to consumers and merchants alike," she added.

In turn, Mr. Bashar Al Bakri, Jordan Ahli Bank's Head of Group Human Resources, thanked MEPS for organizing the workshop, which he was confident had added value to the bank's employees. Al Bakri went on to affirm that the knowledge his employees gained would undoubtedly contribute to developing Jordan Ahli Bank's Card Products operations and to elevating the level of service that the bank delivers to its customers.

Similarly, session trainees expressed pleasure at being brought up to speed on the latest developments in the credit card market, indicating that such an opportunity will help them improve their work performance and maintain a competitive edge. This workshop is the first of several that MEPS will be organizing for its customers and other specialized institutions in both Jordan and the region.

MEPS is a leading MasterCard-licensed acquirer, issuer and processor operating in both Jordan and the Middle East. MEPS intends to develop a highly varied lineup of services that meets the growing demand for streamlined payment solutions throughout the region.
