Meydan and MHK prescribe a new medical tourism destination for Dubai

Meydan and Mir Hashem Khoory (MHK) Group announced the development of a new healthcare facility at Meydan, estimated at Dhs600m.

Meydan and MHK have agreed a partnership to develop healthcare projects in Meydan, starting with the Korean Hospital, to provide premium quality and specialised health care on demand at this important new facility.

The first Korean Hospital to be built in Dubai, is a direct response to HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum's directive to establish Dubai as a medical tourism destination.

The announcement was made by H.E. Saeed Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and CEO Meydan Group, and Mr. Shoaib Mir Hashem Khoory, Managing Director, Mir Hashem Khoory (MHK) Group, speaking from Meydan, the location for this prestigious development.

"Meydan's master vision is to deliver an integrated cityscape of premium residential communities, sports, business and leisure. Meydan is already known for world-class thoroughbred racing and true hospitality. With this step into healthcare services we will extend Meydan's exacting standards to other developments across our territory. The Korean hospital will be a testament to those standards, and marks the beginning of many such partnerships with MHK," said H.E. Saeed Al Tayer for Meydan.

It is not just the concept that we are bringing to Dubai, we are also bringing the key personnel from Korea to ensure Korean high standards of care."

The hospital will offer premium healthcare and medical check-ups to residents of the UAE, and is expected to attract visitors in search of specialist medical procedures from all over the world. The hospital will comprise of two buildings with 170 beds, seven operating rooms and over 600 highly trained medical and care staff, more than half of whom will come from Korea.

The hospital will provide on-demand health assessments and same-day surgery, and specializes in nine leading areas of medical concern:

• Dermatology
• Cosmetic surgery
• Ophthalmology: lasek/lasik
• Spine surgery: percutuneous endoscopic cervical/lumber discectomy treatment
• Orthopedic: total hip and knee replacement
• Adult rehab: 2.5 hrs of advanced therapy/patient/day
• Pediatric rehab:2.5 hrs of advanced therapy/patient/day
• OB/Gynecology (IVF clinic)
• Dental (oral surgery)

The new Korean Hospital will be located in the Meydan Racecourse district grounds, on a plot of land 280,000 sq.ft. in area. Work will commence with the groundbreaking this year, and completion is expected in 2015.
