  • PRESS RELEASE

Bringing Pink Caravan's message 'awareness is the first step towards a cure' to Microsoft Gulf which became the 23rd company to support the initiative by hosting a Wellness Day this month - the Pink Caravan's dedicated team has redoubled its efforts as October - the international breast cancer awareness month - comes to a close.

Commenting on their involvement in the 'Turn the UAE Pink' initiative, Elaine Kelly, MEA Area Portfolio Manager, Facilities at Microsoft, said, "As one of the world's truly global corporations, Microsoft takes its public responsibilities very seriously. We have an enduring commitment to supporting the community As our company has grown, this commitment has extended far beyond our own products and services and has been amplified many times over through our network of partners, including governments, nonprofits and other organizations. For this reason we are extremely please to have been able to contribute to the efforts of the Pink Caravan, through hosting a Wellness Day."

"The response received from both employees and visitors have been overwhelmingly positive. The Pink Caravan's medical staff were helpful, knowledgeable and highly approachable making the entire experience both informative and comforting. So often we as individuals shy away from finding out more about possibly life-threatening conditions such as breast cancer because it is a sensitive subject. The high level of professionalism and circumspection with which the proceedings were handled, however, made it possible for everyone present to reap the benefits of this vital awareness campaign," she added.

HE Ameera Bin Karam, President of the Board Of Trustees and a Founding member of the Friends of Cancer Patients charity, commented, "With help from the UAE's corporate sector, Pink Caravan is taking its message to all major locations across the country. The Wellness campaign is focused on spreading awareness about breast cancer and educating both men and women about its early detectable signs."

"The Pink Caravan's goal is to raise Dhs15m for buying a 3D mobile mammography unit, to help women across the UAE receive regular screenings. Everyone can help to make this goal achievable by purchasing their own small part of the UAE, with a magnetic pink ribbon that can be found on the 'Turn the UAE Pink' campaign maps installed at all participating corporate locations across the UAE for the entire month of October," she added.

The Wellness Day team has been giving informative training sessions to participants, both men and women, at various corporate locations each day during the month of October, with help from experts from Polished Spa, who have added a touch of luxury to the sessions.
