Middle East's first design fair to showcase modern and contemporary design

  • United Arab Emirates: Monday, January 28 - 2013 at 14:56
  • PRESS RELEASE

Design Days Dubai will be welcoming visitors to experience the second edition of the fair at its purpose-built venue in Downtown Dubai, as the city comes alive with the region's largest and most diverse annual cultural offering, during the UAE's Art Week.

The only design fair in the Middle East and South Asia, Design Days Dubai will feature 29 exhibiting galleries, and works from all six continents to discover, further defining Dubai as a regional hub for creativity in the arts, and a global player in terms of delivering world-class design professionals and creations.

"Art Week has established itself as a recognised and respected platform for talent, and a meeting place for collectors and artists, in the region and internationally. The teams behind all three major events, Art Dubai, SIKKA and Design Days Dubai, have worked continuously to strive for the highest of standards in terms of delivering world-class experiences, and to build on Dubai's profile as a melting-pot of creativity," said Cyril Zammit, Fair Director of Design Days Dubai.

"The inaugural Design Days Dubai in 2012 entered Dubai into an exclusive group of cities - those which specialise in hosting both an art and design fair - alongside London, Paris, Basel, New York and Miami," he added.

New for 2013, Design Days Dubai will feature a focus on sustainable works with a design lab, as well as a wider 'Bespoke Design' section, in which four design brands will showcase their insight, skills and creations.

Fostering the next generation of designers is the remit of Design Days Dubai's mentorship programme, developed in partnership with Dubai Culture, which is part of the four-day public programme of talks, presentations and workshops around current design issues.
