Mideast recorded highest passenger traffic growth in March

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has said total passenger traffic during March in all regions climbed 6% from a year earlier, with the Middle East and Latin America recording the strongest growth. During the same month, capacity grew by 3.5%, pushing up load factor 1.8 percentage points to 79.9%. Middle East carriers experienced the strongest traffic growth for any region at 15.6% year-over-year, with a 14.2% rise in capacity that boosted load factor one percentage point to 79.7%. While a smaller share of international air travel (13.4%), they have carried about 20% of the increase in demand over the past six months, IATA said.
