Milaha reports 17% rise in 2012 net profit

Qatar Navigation Co (Milaha) has posted 17% year-on-year increase in its net profit for the full year 2012 to QR835m, the Peninsula has reported. The firm said its Maritime & Logistics segment net profit strongly improved over 2011, driven largely by port services and container feeder transport activities. A one-time income related to an increased stake in two LNG carriers boosted the net profit of the Gas & Petrochem segment relative to 2011 by 5%. Net profit for the offshore segment, however, declined by 26% compared with the previous year, largely due to unforeseen operational issues in the first quarter of 2012, it said.
