Milipol Qatar to begin at Doha Exhibition Centre

Under the auspices of H.H the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the 9th edition of international exhibition of internal state security - Milipol Qatar 2012 inaugurated at Doha Exhibition Centre. The three day exhibition will end on October 10, 2012.
This edition of the exhibition has attracted 265 companies from 38 countries. Total reserved area is 5623 sq.m and it is 24% higher than Milipol Qatar 2010. 11 countries are participating for the first time. They are (Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Oman, Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, and South Korea).
There are four new pavilions in this session with many new companies. They are Brazilian, Pakistani, Jordan and UAE pavilions. These are in addition to four main pavilions such as American pavilion (America, Canada), German Pavilion (Germany, Switzerland and Austria), Check Pavilion and French Pavilion. The largest pavilions are the UAE pavilion in the name of Tawazun Holding and the French pavilion.
Milipol Qatar has become one of the major security exhibitions since its inception in 1996 on international level and it gives the opportunity to know latest in security related technology and as well it meets security needs of Qatar, GCC & Arab countries and other regional countries. This has prompted several global companies to participate in this exhibition.
The statistics of the exhibition show its success as the number of companies and the area reserve have increased compared with previous sessions. The 9th edition of Milipol Qatar has special significance given the unprecedented surge Qatar is witnessing in all fields, thanks to the wise polices and ambitious development plans, which provided the appropriate environment to attract investors and unleash energies. These made Qatar a major destination of investors with huge urban and economic projects such as New Port Project, Qatar Rail and Qatar's hosting world Cup 2022
The President of Milipol Qatar Committee Brigadier Nasser bin Fahad Al Thani said that the preparations for Milipol Qatar 2012 has begun after achieving the great success from Milipol 2010 representing in record numbers in terms of the number of visitors and VIPs who attended the exhibition. The Official Delegations who participated in the exhibition were about 107 delegates from different countries. The number of visitors from specialists and interested parties were about 5517 visitors in addition to the large number of local and international journalists who have covered the event. The total deals that were concluded during the exhibition were about 11 deals with a total value of QR164m.
As the result of this success, the Milipol Committee took early and good preparation for 2012 Milipol. The Milipol Qatar committee did a very good job in promotion for the ninth session of Milipo as the committee members have a number of visits to various exhibitions in Europe and the Middle East and North Africa such as Milipol Paris 2011, Intersec Dubai, I.S.N.R exhibition in Abu Dhabi, DSA exhibition in Malaysia, SOFEX Amman- Jordan and EUROSATORY exhibition in Paris and other exhibition for inviting the companies to attend in the Milipol Qatar Exhibition 2012, he added.
Brigadier Nasser Al Thani further said that many security equipments which manufactured by major companies in the world will be displayed for the first time in Milipol Qatar 2012.
The head of procurement section at the Logistics Department of the Ministry and member of Milipol Qatar Committee Brig. Saud Rashid Al Shafi said the that the Milipol Exhibition is very important for the Ministry of Interior to identify development in the field of modern technologies in the world of internal security as an opportunity to get acquainted with these devices presented in the exhibition. It is expected that new deals would be concluded in Milipol Qatar 2012 as pre the requirement of the each department of the Ministry of Interior after reviewing the products displayed by the participating companies, added Brig. Al Shafi.
Member of Milipol Qatar Committee and director of Financial Affairs Department at the Ministry of Interior Col. Ahmed Abdulla Al-Jamal said that this session of Milipol is the biggest one in all terms. Milipol Qatar has registered growth in each session thus becoming one of the major meeting points for manufacturing companies in the internal security filed to meet government representatives and other interested parties especially from the Middle East.
Col. Al-Jamal added that the exhibition will be opened for the public from the evening session of the first day as the morning session on the first day is reserved for invitees only.
It is be mentioned that all preparation for the smooth running of the exhibition has been completed to ease all the procedures for all local and global companies and the visitors. Apart from this, a fully equipped media centre has been set up to make it easier for the journalists and media representatives to cover the event and to conduct interviews with company representatives. Arrangements have made for the participating companies to hold press conference.
A Milipol Qatar 2012 website has been activated on Ministry of Interior web portal. The website provides information on activities of Milipol Qatar 2012, exhibited products, visitors' information and Milipol news. Journalists and visitors can register through the website to obtain the entry pass to the exhibition.
