- PRESS RELEASE
HE the Minister of Works Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf went on an inspection tour to a number of areas affected by the downpour that Bahrain had witnessed a few days ago. On his visit, the Minister was accompanied by the Undersecretary Waleed Al Saei and a number of officials from the sanitary engineering sector.
As for the flood that occurred at Sh. Salman Highway near Isa Town Gate Flyover, the Minister explained that the underground holding tankers could not handle the amount of waters that gathered due to the heavy rains that poured in a short time. Also, the holding tankers are not connected to the sea and have a limited capacity to receive water flows. Solutions and ways of increasing the system's capacity are being considered.
The Ministry of Works fully dedicated its efforts and capabilities to handle the situation, where a number of tankers have been allocated to clear rainwaters at Muharraq Governorate; along Arad Highway, Avenue 40 and Avenue 44 (Arad), the Capital Governorate along Al Furdah Avenue and Sh. Isa Highway close to The Electricity Connections Directorate Building (Adliya), the Northern Governorate; along Wali Al Ahad Avenue (Al Hamala) and Buri Roundabout, the Central Governorate; along Sh. Salman Highway (Isa Town) and Muharraq Avenue near the National Stadium, in addition to other scattered locations along Al-Quds Avenue, Baghdad Avenue, Al Doha Avenue, Umm Al Na'asan Avenue and Muscat Avenue (Avenue 5 Roundabout) and Block 912 at the Southern Governorate.
