Minister of Works inspects Mina Salman Interchange Project

HE the Minister of Works Eng. Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf visited Mina Salman Interchange Project, which he said is one of the most important strategic projects being implemented in the Kingdom.

The Minister was accompanied by the Assistant Undersecretary for Roads Huda Fakhro, Acting Roads Projects & Maintenance Director Eng. Sayyed Badir Alawi, Acting Roads Planning & Design Director Kadhim Abdul Latif and a number of engineers from the Ministry.

The project consists of the construction of a 3 level tunnel from the Shaikh Isa bin Salman Bridge leading to Hidd on both directions; via Sh. Khalifa bin Salman Causeway.

There will also be a flyover with 2 lanes for traffic coming from Sh. Isa bin Salman Highway and heading to the north towards Al Fateh Highway.

The grade separated interchange will be controlled by traffic signals that will direct traffic from and to Mina Salman Industrial Area through Avenue 42, Al Fateh Highway and Sh. Isa bin Salman Highway.

The Minister Khalaf explained that the Ministry of Works; in order to serve the public and ensure a smooth traffic flow on the interchange, has directed Afcons Infrastructure from India, who are in charge of implementing the project, to increase the pace of work.

In answer to the requirements of the present phase, the number of workers and equipment has been increased.

Once completed, there will be an uninterrupted flow of traffic between King Fahad Causeway and the new Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Port. Mina Salman Interchange will also serve travelers coming from King Fahad Causeway to Bahrain International Airport.
