Following its continuous efforts to develop and broaden the range of its e-services, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Injazat Services. The agreement grants Injazat Services the rights to market the e-Dirham System - second generation in Abu Dhabi.
Commenting on the agreement, HE Saeed Rashid Al Yateem, Executive Director of Revenue and Budget at MoF, emphasised that MoF will continue to work on achieving the greatest possible benefit of the e-Dirham's features. The Ministry will also expand the platform for government bodies and the private sector across all Emirates to adopt the system. This falls in line with its strategic objectives of establishing sustainable and balanced development for the UAE.
HE Al Yateem added, "The MOU with Injazat Services indicates that the Ministry of Finance and National Bank of Abu Dhabi will offer technical support and installation services for the e-Dirham system on the websites of different government authorities and companies, in addition to providing the necessary training for their employees."
Furthermore, Al Maqbali indicated that 'Injazat Services' is already approaching government bodies in Abu Dhabi to adopt the e-Dirham system as a means to collect fees for services. He also stressed on the importance of the system in coordinating cash management, achieving a higher level of security in addition to reducing administrative costs. Furthermore, it plays an important role in facilitating financial clearing processes between government bodies and the private sector.
The e-Dirham system - second generation currently operates via POS, electronic collection and the Internet. MoF plans to add to this new portal that allows for payments to be made through mobile phones, e-kiosks, e-wallets as well as by making transfers or through direct debit from bank accounts. One of the main features of the e-dirham that the Minsitry has provided as well is the programme's security system, which is responsible for easing the process of issuing bank guarantees pertaining to the Ministry of Labour, through coordinating with all banks operating in the UAE.
Each of the Ministries of Finance, Labour, Health, Education, Interior, Justice, Energy, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Economy, Environment and Water, Public Works, Culture Youth and Community Development, adopt and use the e-Dirham system - second generation. MoF is currently working on activating the system in a number of other ministries and government authorities and federal government bodies of local Emirates such as the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emirates Identity Authority, Federal Customs Authority, Securities and Commodities Authority, Insurance Authority, Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, National Media Council, Emirates Authority for Standardisation & Metrology, Dubai Trade Portal, Dubai eGovernment, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, Higher Corporation for Specialised Economic Zones, Al Ain City Municipality and RAK Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
