Works Ministry makes full use of building maintenance budget for 2012

Requests for maintenance from government entities amounted to 1757 requests in 2012, many of which the directorate carried out as part of a yearly plan to maintain government buildings.

"The most prominent of our maintenance projects was the maintenance of 42 government schools at a cost of BD2,524,700; aiming to improve the quality of schools and support education in the Kingdom," explained Ms. Mirza.

"The directorate also maintained sewerage networks belonging to the Ministry of Works, in addition to maintaining 2 social centers in East Riffa and Isa Town and some post buildings belonging to the Ministry of Transportation," she said.

The Ministry completed 901 requests for maintenance, while the number of projects under implementation reached 674 projects. The Building Maintenance Directorate is in the process of activating the electronic building maintenance service, which aims to facilitate and speed up procedures.

By having this service, customers will have an easy and quick access to services at any time, in addition to having the privilege of following up their requests.

"The Building Maintenance Directorate completed the long-term strategic plan, through which all government buildings have been scheduled for regular maintenance," said Director Mirza.

"The Quality Control Unit has also been activated. We expect that the unit will have an active and important role in improving the maintenance services provided by our directorate." She added.
