Works Ministry participates in World Habitat Day

The Ministry of Works recently took part in the World Habitat Day, which was held under the patronage of HH the Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, and organized by the Ministry of Municipalities & Urban Planning Affairs.

The United Nations chose the theme of the event to reflect on the state of towns and cities and the basic right of all to adequate shelter. It is also intended to remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat.

During the celebration, reference was made to phase 1 of the urban development project, which is to commence next year. The Ministry also highlighted fundamental projects that have been and still being implemented, such as the construction of causeways and tunnels and the revamp of roads and villages.

Sanitary engineering services were also highlighted; specifically the construction of new state-of-the-art and high quality sewage treatment plants, such as Muharraq Sewage Treatment Plant that is being implemented in Hidd.
