Mitsubishi organises Team Pajero adventure

General Automotive Company, the exclusive dealers for Mitsubishi in Oman, organised a desert adventure for Pajero owners and enthusiasts, giving them a taste of an Arabian desert, and set forth with the one vehicle designed to handle the challenge - the Mitsubishi Pajero.

The Team Pajero adventure was split across two weekends, the first was held from February 7 to 8 with 36 Pajeros and over 175 participants involved, while the second was held from February 21 to 22 involving 190 participants and 36 Pajeros.

Commenting on the event Mark Tomlinson, the General Manager of General Automotive Company, said, "We try to organise events which capture the imagination of our customers as well as allowing them to experience the fantastic abilities of our vehicles. The Pajero has been a constant favourite in the region and in this edition of 'Team Pajero' we're really pleased with the positive feedback from our guests. It certainly was an action packed event."

"I'd like to personally thank our sales team for all their hard work in putting together the Team Pajero adventure for our customers, it really was a a top experience for everyone who took part," he added.

On both occasions, participants in the Team Pajero adventure first gathered at the main Mitsubishi showroom at Azaiba, and once underway, the convoy moved to Wahiba Sands before fully testing their off-roading abilities at the Al Raha Camp in Bidiya.

The 'Team Pajero' event was the latest in a series of adventures for customers to give them driving experience in challenging off-road sand conditions - provided in a safe and secure environment. Hosted at the Al Raha Camp on both weekends, the convoy of 36 Pajeros was escorted by Marshalls and the desert driving training was undertaken in batches of 10 participants. The drivers then proceeded to the Dune bashing session, after which the group was taken atop a dune to watch the sunset.

Pajero owners had the chance to drive over the dunes and find out just how capable the powerful SUV is in tackling the most demanding desert terrain and conditions. The fun-packed family event also included dinner and entertainment from a traditional Omani band, setting the mood of the camp as the sun set over the dunes.

Sachin Kathrecha, Manager - Retail Design & Delivery at Muscat Grand Mall and a participant in the first convoy, said, "I had a fantastic time at the Team Pajero event. This was the first time for desert driving for my family and friends and we were all encouraged by the support and efforts put in by the Mitsubishi Oman team. I would recommend all my friends to participate in this event for the future, and I'm looking forward to dune bashing in our Pajero very soon."

Team Pajero participants noted the professional organisation of the event, while many said it was the experience of a lifetime to drive in the real desert for the first time. All remarked that a great time was had by all, with children getting in on the fun with organised activities.

"I would like to thank GAC for arranging the Team Pajero adventure for us. It was a great experience for my family and me. We enjoyed and cherished every moment of this trip," said Yusuf Abdullah, the Sales Manager for Budget Rent-a-Car - Oman and a participant in the second convoy. "I would like to give special thanks to team from GAC that attended the event. They were always there to assist us and did everything they could to ensure we had a great time," he added.

The Pajero is available in Mitsubishi showrooms all over Oman. The new model has a slightly new look to the vehicle and offers more interior space, but is once again packed full of the features to make it a pleasure to drive - from the power of its 3.5 and 3.8 litre MIVEC engine through to a full suite of safety features that make it so popular with families and individuals across the Sultanate.

Designed from the ground-up to cope with any kind of driving condition from highway cruising, urban driving or more challenging off-road adventures in the wadis and dunes of the Sultanate, the Pajero has proved its mettle time and again. The roomy interior of the Pajero accommodates seven people and is equipped with a manual Dual AC, CD player with 4 speakers, Overhead Console with Sunglass storage, Map Lamp and Trip Computer with an Information Centre.

Mitsubishi Oman has showrooms in Muscat, Sohar, Musannah, Nizwa, Ibri, Sinaw, Samail, Barka, Ibra, Sur, Jalan Bu Ali, Salalah, Buraimi and Dibba.
