Moody's sees stable outlook for Qatari lenders

  • Qatar: Thursday, April 11 - 2013 at 01:56

Moody's Investors Service has said the outlook for the Qatari banking system remains stable, unchanged since 2010, Arab News has reported. Qatari lenders are expected to maintain strong financial metrics, including low levels of non-performing loans (NPLs), robust earnings and sound capitalisation, the agency said. However, these positive factors are counterbalanced by an undiversified economy heavily reliant on the oil and gas sector; the system's relatively high dependence on short-term foreign funding; and a still-developing corporate-governance and risk-management culture, Moody's said.
