- PRESS RELEASE
Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels, a collection of five-star boutique destinations, launched Argan, an authentic Moroccan restaurant, in a VIP-studded grand launch under the auspices of the Moroccan and French embassies and many others in Qatar.
The French ambassador, His Excellency Jean-Christophe Peaucelle was among the other VIPs in attendance.
Formally opening the restaurant, His Excellency El Mekki Gaouane commented, "Argan sets new standards in fine dining with its wholesome culinary experience. With Argan offering real, authentic Moroccan cuisine, we are delighted to have this level of cultural representation here in Qatar. We are positive that Argan will grow to be much preferred destination for all those who appreciate true Moroccan delicacies."
Argan is the newest addition to the seven dining outlets at Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels. The restaurant portrays a traditional Moroccan setting, stylishly uplifted by modern elements and chic, vibrant colors.
Christophe Dumeige, Hotel Manager, Al Jasra Boutique Hotel, personally welcomed guests at the launch. Musicians playing the qanun, oud, accordion, cello and percussion provided the entertainment, generating great atmosphere.
Dumeige said, "Argan represents Souq Waqif Boutique Hotel's 'Choose your own Flavour' concept. The restaurant is genuinely Moroccan, from the ingredients used in the menu, to the Chef and waiting staff who have also come right from the heart of Morocco. Our outlets across Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels are already well known for their wide selection of diverse and sophisticated dining options. We sought to differentiate the food and beverage offerings at Argan by providing the essence of Moroccan cuisine. Today, we are honoured to host an event of this scale and pride ourselves in making available exceptional dining experiences that are complemented by equally impressive views, ambience and service."
The evening closed on a high note, with the chef holding a live demonstration around the spread of desserts served. Souvenirs from Morocco were made available through a pop-up store at the hotel. Argan's menu has been created with an emphasis on original Moroccan dishes as a base, fused with contemporary techniques and flair for the unique flavour that is a part of the Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels identity.
Serving traditional Moroccan dishes that include the likes of harira soup, tagines, couscous and pastillas, Argan seats a capacity of 44 guests and is open every day 12pm-11pm.
