Mövenpick Hotel Deira appoints new General Manager
- United Arab Emirates: Monday, March 04 - 2013 at 14:09
The Mövenpick Hotel Deira has announced the appointment of German national, Anke Glaessing, as General Manager for the 216-room five-star hotel located in the bustling heritage and trading hub of Deira, on Dubai Creek.
Glaessing brings a wealth of hands-on operational expertise to the role following a career path that has taken her from her native Germany to take up executive leadership roles in South East Asia and Dubai. She joins Mövenpick fresh from Rotana Hotels where she was Resident Manager at the Al Murooj Rotana in Dubai.
Since launching her career in 1990, she has worked on high profile hotel openings as well as brand re-launches and credits her success to date to an inherent thirst for knowledge and experience, which has taken her from Germany and the United Kingdom to the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia and Thailand.
Prior to the Al Murooj Rotana, Glaessing spent a number of years working in South East Asia. More recently she was Director of Rooms at the five-star 353 room Le Meridien in Jakarta, Indonesia, where she managed over 160 employees. Before that she completed an assignment as Rooms Division/Revenue Manager at another Le Meridien hotel, this time in Khao Lak Beach & Spa Resort in Thailand.
"A true career hotelier, Anke has managed virtually every facet of the hotel operation, giving her a unique perspective of what makes a hotel tick and ways in which to improve, still further, the appeal of the Mövenpick Hotel Deira to the corporate market," said Andreas Mattmüller, Chief Operating Officer for Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, Middle East and Asia.
Glaessing's appointment comes as the hotel looks to grow on the success of its first two years of operation, and the historic Deira area embarks on a four-year transformation following the announcement of the launch of the $816m Deira Waterfront Development Project in late 2012.
"Mövenpick Hotel Deira is in an area of Dubai that will benefit from plans for a new waterfront, especially with the leisure, commercial and retail development, there are a host of new business opportunities on the horizon," added Glaessing.
The hotel offers elegantly furnished rooms, a rooftop swimming pool overlooking Dubai and a state-of-the-art gym. Dubai International Airport is a ten-minute drive away.
The hotel also provides a complimentary shuttle service to Oceana Beach Club on The Palm Jumeirah where the guests can enjoy the facilities of the club and private beach.
