Tighter controls needed to curb increasing threats to snow leopards
- One of the most endangered big cats in the world, the snow leopard, with an estimated population of only 4000 - 7000, is being severely threatened by illegal killing and trade, according to a recent study by TRAFFIC, the wildlife trade-monitoring network of WWF and IUCN - The World Conservation Union.

Enviro-Spellathon: on a winning track

Ivory use and trade shifts underground in India
- Illicit trade in elephant ivory continues in India despite national ban since the 1970s according to report by TRAFFIC1, the wildlife trade monitoring network. Domestic ivory trade continues to be widespread in the country, but has now largely shifted underground, hindering law enforcement efforts.

WWF provides blueprint for power sector to curb global warming now
- Global temperature has already risen by 0.6°C over the past century, affecting many ecosystems as well as people. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a rise of more than 2.0°C will lead to increased flooding, droughts, spreading of diseases, damage to corals and melting of glaciers, with devastating consequences.

WWF receives Historic building from Dubai Municipality
- In a press conference on the 26th of March, 2003, Eng. AbdulRahaman Al Sharid, Director of the General Project Department of Dubai Municipality handed over to WWF a building in the beautiful and historic area of Al Bastakiya, close to the old wall of Dubai.

WWF recognises Qarnein Island as a Gift to the Earth
- The island of Qarnein, 180 km. north-west of Abu Dhabi, and its surrounding waters have been declared as a 'Gift to the Earth' by the World Wide Fund for Nature International.

Island Gift to the Earth
- The UAE island of Qarnein has been made a Gift to the Earth by the WorldWide Fund for Nature. It's the first ever site in the Arabian Gulf to become a Marine Protected Area. The WWF hopes to raise further goverment and corporate support for environmental concerns in the region.
