  • ADAC reveals airport design

  • The Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) has revealed its design concept for the Mid-Field Terminal Complex, which will become the main airport in Abu Dhabi from 2011. The $6.8bn masterplan is a 40m capacity airport terminal, showcased at the recent Arabian Travel Market.

  • Bahrain Air to buy six jets

  • Bahrain Air is in talks to buy six new jets, reported Gulf News. The six aircraft estimated at $270m will be financed through a fund being established by Bahrain Air shareholders.

  • Customers to pay for $200 oil, says Qatar Airways CEO

  • Qatar Airways customers can expect higher ticket prices if oil prices continue to climb. When asked by AME Info how the airline's expansion plans would be affected if oil prices reached $200 a barrel, Akbar Al Baker, the carrier's CEO said: 'We will still expand because the rising fuel costs will be transferred to you as a passenger. It's as simple as that. Because at the end of the day, we have to make money, and we will then let you pay for it. And you have to travel, because there is no more efficient or better means of travel than air travel.'

  • Qatar to seek compensation from Boeing

  • Qatar Airways plans to seek compensation from Boeing for delays in delivering its 787 Dreamliner aircraft, reported our sister company Meed. Qatar bought 30 of the planes as part of a $13.5bn order in 2007, but the US manufacturer has twice delayed production. The airline may purchase Airbus A380s to cover the shortfall.

  • Etihad signs lease deal for aircraft

  • Etihad Airways has signed a contract with New York-based CIT Aerospace for the lease of two new Airbus A320-200 aircraft. The two A320-200s are scheduled for delivery to the Abu Dhabi-based airline by the end of 2008. The aircraft will be powered by IAE V2527-A5 engines.

  • Luanda-Dubai route to open

  • Angola's state-owned flag carrier TAAG is launching service from the country's capital, Luanda, to Dubai on Monday. The twice-weekly service will be offered on Mondays and Fridays. TAAG will fly with a Boeing 777 with the capacity for 420 passengers.

  • Flights to Beirut from Dubai cancelled

  • Three flights, outbound and inbound, from Dubai to Beirut were cancelled on Wednesday due to the labour union protest in the Lebanese capital, reported Gulf News. Supporters of Lebanon's Hezbollah-led opposition blocked main roads in Beirut with burning barricades, paralysing the city and deepening a political conflict.

  • Etihad plans 12 new destinations

  • Etihad Airways will add 12 destinations to its network in the coming months, include major cities in China, India and former Soviet Union states, reported Gulf News. Dr Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saif Al Nahyan, Etihad chairman, added the four-year-old airline will break-even by 2010. The airline last year flew 4.6 million passengers and aims to fly 6.3 million this year.
