  • ArabJet may buy SilverJet

  • ArabJet, a proposed premium class airline based in Dubai, is talking to the administrators of SilverJet about a possible sale, reported Reuters. Luton-based SilverJet, which operated three planes between London, Dubai and New York, collapsed into administration last month due to weak demand and record fuel prices. Talks to buy SilverJet by Kingplace, an Irish-registered company managed by Swiss trust and management company Heritage, collapsed on Friday, when the company made its 420 employees redundant.

  • Abu Dhabi airports get new branding

  • Abu Dhabi Airports Company has launched a new identity for its international airports in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain that connects it to the brand of Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi airports' identity will be replaced with a new graphic which embodies the spirit of the Abu Dhabi brand in line with the tourism authority, which promotes the emirate around the world. The airports have been given a distinctive sky blue colour to use in the logo.

  • Gate Gourmet, Western form JV

  • Airline catering Gate Gourmet has formed a joint venture with the UAE's Western Group to form Gate Gourmet Middle East. The JV is formed with co-investor Sultan International Group. The new company will hold offices in Abu Dhabi and Dubai to serve its major Middle East partners.

  • Aircraft Interiors show opens

  • Aircraft Interiors Middle East is set to open today and run until 17 June at the Dubai International Conventions & Exhibitions Centre. The event will feature a two-day conference programme for the aircraft interiors sector. Organizer F&E Aerospace expects participation from 100 companies from 15 countries.

  • Oman Air flies to Bangalore

  • Oman Air has launched services to Bangalore, the airline's 10th destination in India. There will be five flights to Bangalore each week.

  • Oman plans more airports

  • Omani authorities have announced construction works are expected to begin later this year for two new greenfield airports in the country, reported Gulf News. An international airport at Duqm in the Wusta region is now under construction while a modest-sized airport facility at Ras Al Hadd in the Sharqiya region is on queue to cater to eco-tourism resorts planned in the area. Sohar, Haima, Adam and Shaleem are also eyed for greenfield airports in the future.

  • Emirates ups flights to India

  • Emirates has announced plans to advance its Indian operation with 18 additional flights per week, effective 1st July 2008. The Dubai-based airline will step up its frequencies to the country's capital city, New Delhi, and IT hubs, Bangalore and Hyderabad, progressing its Indian footprint to 132 flights per week - the highest ever frequency for an international carrier in the Indian skies.

  • Lufthansa now daily from Dubai to Munich

  • Lufthansa German Airlines will increase the frequency on its all business class Dubai-Munich route to daily service, from July 15. The Lufthansa Business Jet service commenced on May 1st with six flights a week. With this new service, Lufthansa passengers can avail of a year-round connection from Dubai to Munich complimenting the flights from Dubai to Frankfurt, which are scheduled for all days of the week.
