  • Oman Air announced it has moved its call center at Knowledge Oasis, serving 24 hours and 7 days a week. The new call center telephone number is 2453 11 11. Customer services include reservations, ticketing, Sindbad Frequent Flyer Programme, among others.

  • Emirates offers Ramadan hotel deals

  • Emirates Airlines is offering passengers to Dubai packages for two-night stays from $57 per person per night at selected hotels. The offer is available for the month of September and includes a meet-and-greet service at Dubai airport.

  • Etihad launches luggage service

  • Etihad Airways has launched a new luggage service, allowing passengers to send heavy or excess baggage before flying. The service is run by the airline's cargo division, Etihad Crystal Cargo, and customers will be given special rates that are cheaper than the excess baggage fees they would normally have paid.

  • Jazeera to get Airbus order early

  • Kuwait-based Jazeera Airways has said that it will take delivery of two new Airbus aircraft, scheduled for delivery in 2009, this autumn, The National has reported. The carrier agreed to take delivery of the A320 aircraft early, after another airline pushed back their demand with Airbus. Jazeera currently runs a fleet of six A320s and has a further 34 aircraft on order.

  • Barry Brown has been appointed as VP Commercial for national carrier Oman Air. Brown will be responsible for all passenger and cargo revenue generation, distribution, marketing and sales functions.

  • Jet Airways to launch Dubai route

  • Mumbai-based carrier Jet Airways is to launch flights between Dubai and Delhi from 23 August. The route will be operated daily as a direct service between the two cities. The carrier is also planning to launch a Saudi Arabian route later in the year.

  • Middle East Airlines in SITA upgrade

  • Middle East Airlines (MEA) has signed a five-year $3m agreement for its global IT upgrade with SITA to boost speed and data access. The solution will add more flexibility, security and bandwidth to MEA's network-supported services over SITA's IP VPN secure network.

  • Etihad to fly to Kazakhstan

  • Etihad Airways is launching a non-stop flight on December 2 this year to Almaty in Kazakhstan from Abu Dhabi. Etihad will fly the route four times a week from Abu Dhabi using an Airbus A319.
