Air Arabia offers seat selection
- Air Arabia has introduced a new service where passengers can now select their choice of seat upon making a flight reservation. The service is available in all booking channels including websites, call centre, travel agencies and sales shops. The new service will be available for a nominal fee.

NAS launches Aviation Academy
- Kuwait's National Aviation Services (NAS) has launched the NAS Aviation Academy to provide training in travel and tourism, cargo and dangerous goods, airport and civil aviation procedures, passenger services and ground handling operations. NAS recently obtained its certification as an IATA Authorized Training Center.

Jazeera Airways revenues up 47%
- Jazeera Airways has announced a 47% increase in its Q2 revenues, but has recorded KD897,895 in losses for the quarter ending on June 30. Losses have improved by 50% over the same period in 2007. The airline has firm orders for 34 additional aircraft, to be delivered in phases until 2014.

Silver Air gears up for UAE
- Silver Air has selected Jordan Aircraft Maintenance Limited to finalize all the preparation work required on Silver Air's Boeing 737-200 aircraft in order to register them in the UAE. JorAMCo will perform a C check on each aircraft at JorAMCo's facility in Queen Alia International Airport.

Delta offers cut rate Kuwait-US fare
- Delta Airlines has offered an introductory return fare of KWD309 on direct flights between Kuwait City and Atlanta. The offer applies to tickets purchased before August 22, 2008 for travel between November 8 and December 11, 2008. Delta will operate four weekly services between Kuwait and the US.

Etihad launches Minsk route
- Etihad Airways is the first Middle East carrier to launch its Belarus route, landing in the capital Minsk yesterday. The twice-weekly service is the third route to be added so far this month following the launch of daily flights from Abu Dhabi to both Chennai (Madras) and Kozhikode (Calicut).

Einstein a hit with passengers
- Abu Dhabi Airport claims some 2.3 million people will see Einstein, the 140 million year old dinosaur, while it is on display in terminal 1. Since going on display in mid-July, the airport says some 360,000 travellers and residents have seen the 23m, 4.5 tonne Apatosauraus. Most are the 25,000 passengers arriving at the airport every day.

Gulf Air appoints deputy CEO
- Bahrain-based carrier Gulf Air has appointed former CFO Ismail Karimi as deputy CEO. The Bahraini national has been with the group for 15 years. The carrier is undertaking a major realignment programme following financial setbacks.
