  • A380 update. Emirates A380 touches down in Dubai

  • The Emirates A380 landed in Dubai at about 5.50pm. AME Info was on board, doing a live link up for our audio site and Phil Blizzard said the landing was smooth. Overall, he said the plane was comfortable in all three classes, which he tried during the flight, especially the business and first classes. Emirates must now ready the plane for its first commercial flight in two days time to New York.

  • A380 update: Emirates takeoff from Hamburg

  • The Airbus A380 has taken off from Hamburg on the delivery flight to Dubai. The aircraft left the runway to applause from the passengers inside and watched by a large crowd of onlookers. The plane's estimated arrival time in Dubai is 5.40pm local time.

  • A380 update: Emirates A380 lands in Dubai today

  • Emirates flies its first A380 back from Germany to Dubai today, taking off at 11am UAE time. It arrives in Dubai around 5pm. It then makes its first commercial flight a few days later, flying to New York on 1st August. This is the first of 58 A380s on order, with the second due to be delivered late September. One of three configurations bought by Emirates, the first flight has seats for 489 passengers. AME Info's broadcast team is on the delivery flight from Germany, and will be reporting live from the plane at various stages of the journey.

  • A380 update: Emirates to add new German routes

  • The Chairman and CEO of Emirates, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, said today that he plans to increase the number of flights the airline currently makes to Germany. Speaking at the handover ceremony of the Airbus A380 in Hamburg, he told attendees that Emirates hopes to soon add Berlin and Stuttgart. He said also that the A380 was a greener aircraft, adding that on the routes it flies Emirates will save 500,000 litres of fuel per plane because of the efficiency of the engines.

  • A380 update: Emirates gets its first Airbus A380

  • Emirates Airline took delivery of its first A380 plane today during a handover ceremony in Germany with Airbus. The plane, which will make it's inaugural flight from Dubai to New York on 1st August, has 489 seats - 14 first class suites, 76 business and 399 economy. It is one of three configurations that will eventually make up Emirates fleet of 58 A380s, making it the largest customer for the aircraft. To date, Airbus has 17 customers for the A380 super-jumbo, with 202 planes on order.

  • Emirates to buy 60 Airbus planes

  • Emirates has inked a deal to buy 60 more wide-bodied planes from Airbus, as part of its international expansion. The letter of intent was signed on the sidelines of its A380 launch in Germany today. The deal includes 30 A330-300s and 30 A350 XWBs.

  • A380 update: Emirates A380 is Hamburg's pride

  • During a special reception held at the Hamburg Rathaus Town Hall, on the eve of the handover of the Emirates Airbus A380, quests were told by Heinrich Lieser, CEO, Hamburg Marketing, that 'The citizens of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg will have their hearts filled with pride as the delivery of the first Airbus A380 to Emirates is made on the banks of the River Elbe.'

  • ADAC gets service certified

  • The Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) has received the Airports Council International 'Service Quality Assured' certification. The ACI Service Quality Assured Certification is based on annual results of the overall satisfaction of international passengers. The credit went to the Abu Dhabi International Airport's service quality management system for having met industry best practices.
