'Free' Jazeera flights to Dubai and Kuwait
- Jazeera Airways is giving away 35,000 seats in a promotion from Bahrain to two of its destinations – Kuwait and Dubai. The low-cost airline says that two days advanced booking must be given and that taxes and charges will still apply, so seats will not be free. The seats are available on most flights to the two destinations, which operate daily. The promotion lasts until 31 May and applies to flights booked from Bahrain only.

Bahrain Air flies to Kochi
- Bahrain Air announced its inaugural flight to India will land at Cochin International Airport on 26th May, leaving Bahrain at 10:40am and arrives at 5:30pm, local time on the same day. This service will operate three times a week for the entire summer and will become a daily service from October 2008.

Middle East gets set on jets
- Aircraft manufacturer Embraer is projecting the Middle East will account for about 3% of global deliveries of regional jets over the next 20 years, cited Gulf News. This meant That means 190 aircraft out of the projected deliveries of 7,450 planes in the segment. Embraer said prospects for regional jets offering between 90 and 120 seats will improve from right-sizing of narrow-body operations.

Jazeera Airways eyes Saudi market
- Saudi Arabia will be among the top three growth markets in the next five years for Jazeera Airways, according to Marwan Boodai, the airline's Chairman and CEO. He noted that the kingdom aims to increase its annual number of visitors from 17 million in 2007 to 45.3 million in 2020, and he said he believes the airline, which is based in both Kuwait and Dubai, can be an integral part of this plan.

Midex Airlines adds B747 to fleet
- Midex Airlines, the UAE's first privately-owned cargo airline, has announced the arrival of a Boeing 747-200F freighter to its fleet. The 108-tonne capacity aircraft will initially be employed on the daily Al Ain-Orly route tasked with carrying cargo brought into MIDEX's home-base at Al Ain International Airport by its existing fleet of six Airbus A300B4's.

Jet Airways to start Abu Dhabi route
- Indian carrier Jet Airways will launch two direct daily flights from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai and Delhi on April 23, and is in negotiations to launch direct service to Dubai, reported Gulf News. Abraham Joseph, the carrier's senior manager for the Mena region, said he expects the negotiations with Dubai to be completed this month. From Dubai, the price of a one-way economy ticket to Mumbai will be Dhs450 and a return ticket will be Dhs1,000, and to Delhi it will cost Dhs500 and Dhs1,100, respectively. Jet will launch two direct daily flights from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai and Delhi on April 23, and is waiting for the negotiations to conclude for launching routes from Dubai as well.

Oman Air appoints acting CEO
- Darwish bin Ismail Al Balushi, Secretary-general of the Ministry of Finance and member of the board of directors of Oman Air, has been appointed acting Chief Executive Officer of the airline, according to a statement issued by Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki, National Economy Minister and Chairman of the carrier. Balushi's appointment follows the sudden death of Ziad al Haremi, the former CEO, last week, reported Khaleej Times.

Dubai airport handles 9.3m in first quarter
- Dubai International Airport handled over nine million passengers in the first quarter this year, registering an increase of 15.11% over the corresponding period in 2007, a statement said. The airport handled a total of 9,341,270 passengers from January to March this year, as compared to 8,114,762 in the first quarter of 2007. March was the busiest month with 3.25 million passengers while February registered the lowest at just over 2.97 million passengers.
