ANZ Investment Bank appoints Regional Head, Middle East

ANZ Investment Bank, the investment banking division of Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd, announces the appointment of Geoffrey Biron as Regional Head, Global Structured Finance, Middle East, and Head of the ANZ Bahrain Offshore Banking Unit.
Geoff will lead ANZ' s Project Finance and Corporate Advisory activities in the Middle East. He has been based in Bahrain since January 2001 and prior to this, he was an Assistant Director in ANZ's Global Power group in London. He joined ANZ in 1988.
ANZ Investment Bank is one of the leading structured finance arrangers and providers in the Middle East covering Power, Water, Oil, Gas and Petrochemicals, Transportation, Natural Resources, Media and Telecoms and Infrastructure. The Bahrain based team is responsible for Middle East coverage within the region and works closely with other ANZ teams, comprising over 200 Global Structured Finance professionals worlwide.
Recent business successes for ANZ Investment Bank in the Middle East include Lead Arranger roles in the Barka Power and Water Desalination Project, Oman and the Ras Laffan Independent Water and Power Project, Qatar.
Sven Dybadahl will be responsible for the further development of business opportunities for ANZ's industrial transportation finance business in the Asian region, while still retaining responsibilty for the transportation business in the Middle East. ANZ's Bahrain based team will continue to work closely with Sven on industrial transportation finance transactions in the Middle East.
ANZ's activities in the Middle East are also supported by a representative office in Tehran.
