Under the agreement, the postal services automation system will be implemented by Emirates Post through Point of Sales (POS) centres at different post offices which will automate all postal services at the counters and at the back office, and provide better customer service through track and trace facility.

An Emirates Post delegation led by Mr. Abdulla Al Daboos, Director General of Emirates Post and Mr. Khaled Ebrahim Hassan Shahdoor, Assistant Director General, IT Department, Emirates Post, visited Bahrain to sign the agreement and explore further mutual cooperation between the UAE and Bahrain in postal matters.

The agreement was signed by Mr. Abdulla Al Daboos, Director General of Emirates Post and Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Ali al Khalifa, Undersecretary, Ministry of Communications, Bahrain, in the presence of Sheikh Bader bin Khalifa bin Abdullah al Khalifa, Director of Bahrain Posts and Sheikh Abdulla bin Salman Al Khalifa, Marketing Director, Bahrain Posts.

According to the deal, Emirates Post will install a hi-tech automation system through POS machines that will make it possible to handle multiple transactions at a single counter, including handling EMS, registered mail, parcels, private P.O. Boxes and third party services.

Commenting on the agreement, Mr. Daboos said: "Emirates Post takes pride in providing Bahrain Post with this highly developed and unique system developed by our IT Department. It is totally user friendly, helps the user track the movement of mail and offers security and speed. The system will lead to higher productivity and greater customer satisfaction. Emirates Post will provide training and consultation as part of the agreement. One of the biggest advantages of the system is that it is easily upgradeable. Emirates Post will also carry out all the required customization to meet the requirements of Bahrain Post, as part of the agreement."

Mr. Daboos said the postal services automation system was one of the innovative ways in which Emirates Post was raising the standards of its services and keeping pace with global developments in postal activities, in order to compete with the private sector.

"We lay great emphasis on customer satisfaction, better productivity and employee comfort. This POS system enhances output and help the employees deliver high quality services to customers with speed and efficiency," said Mr. Daboos.
